Mediation Services

The Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) practice at Kay Casto & Chaney is comprised of members who are recognized throughout the state as being in the forefront of mediation and arbitration services. The firm has received high praise for bringing parties together to develop practical solutions to the most complex disagreements. These processes provide greater confidentiality in settings that are less formal and less demanding than conventional court proceedings.

As respected litigators with many years of practice behind them, Kay Casto & Chaney’s ADR team has been hired in a variety of subject areas such as wrongful death, personal injury, contracts, sexual harassment, wrongful discharge, medical malpractice, and premises liability. Many of the firm’s arbitrators are panel members of the American Arbitration Association and have notable experience in such areas as coal-related disputes, contract cases, and damage assessments.

Education is viewed at Kay Casto & Chaney as an essential part of effective alternative dispute resolution. Members have taken advantage of every opportunity to hone skills to strengthen creative problem solving, including attending the Advanced Mediator Training offered by the West Virginia State Bar, lecturing at firm-coordinated seminars, and participating in activities organized by the State Bar’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee and several of its subcommittees.
