Charleston, WV (June 20, 2017) — At the 35th annual meeting of the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia — held at Glade Springs Resort from June 14 through June 16 — Teresa J. Dumire was elected into the officer’s rotation as secretary for the 2017 term.  Dumire will serve as secretary of the Board of Governors for one year, and then move into the treasurer’s position. After which, she will assume the role of vice-president and then president (2020).

Currently, Dumire is the managing member of the firm’s Morgantown office.  She also serves on the firm’s management committee. Dumire’s full-time practice encompasses all areas of civil litigation with concentrations in construction law and insurance defense.

A graduate of West Virginia University and the West Virginia University College of Law, Dumire is a member of the Defense Research Institute and a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel. Dumire is a member of the Monongalia County Bar Association and a former member of the Board of Governors of the West Virginia State Bar. Dumire is also a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America (2015), and a Fellow of the Construction Lawyers Society of America (2017). This past April, Dumire was inducted as a Fellow of the West Virginia Bar Foundation, an honor that pays tribute to lawyers whose professional, public and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the welfare of their communities and honorable service to the legal profession. Dumire is a graduate of both Leadership Monongalia and Leadership West Virginia.

Among her legal achievements, Dumire has earned the highest attainable “A-V” rating from Martindale-Hubbell. She has been listed among The Best Lawyers in America since 2011 (Litigation-Construction; Personal Injury Litigation – Defendants) and was named “Lawyer of the Year” for her work in the area of Insurance Law (Morgantown). Similarly, Dumire has been listed as a “West Virginia Super Lawyer” since 2008.  Chambers and Partners’ America’s Leading Lawyers for Business recently recognized Dumire for her work in the field of litigation.

Dumire lives in Morgantown with her husband of 21 years, Bill, and their 17-month old daughter, Alexandra.
