Laura A. Hoffman Joins Firm

ChaLauraHoffmanrleston, W.Va. (June 20, 2016) – Kay Casto & Chaney is pleased to announce that Laura A. Hoffman has joined the firm as an associate. Hoffman will practice in the firm’s Charleston office.

For the past year, Hoffman has served as a circuit judge law clerk under the direction of The Honorable Thomas C. Evans, III (Fifth Judicial Circuit for the State of West Virginia and Business Court Division).

At Kay Casto and Chaney, Hoffman will assist the firm’s clients in the areas of general litigation, labor and employment, and commercial law. Court admissions include the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, the United States District Courts for the Southern Districts of West Virginia, and the Supreme Court of Virginia.

Hoffman is an honors graduate of West Virginia University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She went on to receive a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the WVU College of Law.

While a law student, Hoffman was an active member of the campus community. She served as an Associate Editor of The West Virginia Law Review, and as a student-attorney for the WVU Clinical Law Program. She was an officer of the WVU College of Law Class of 2015 and was a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society. Hoffman also worked with students as an honors college mentor.  She received many academic honors during her time in Morgantown, such as the CALI Award for Excellence in E-Discovery, and recognition on both the President’s and Dean’s lists for scholastic achievement.

Hoffman earned memberships in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Phi Sigma Theta National Honor Society. Hoffman also dedicated time to volunteer projects at the Bartlett House of Morgantown, Chestnut Mountain Ranch Home for Boys, and at other foster homes for children.
