Charleston, WV (August 4, 2023) – Kay Casto & Chaney PLLC is pleased to announce that Christian T. Higgins has joined the firm’s Morgantown office and will represent clients in matters involving municipal, regulatory, employment, and commercial law.

Prior to joining Kay Casto & Chaney PLLC, Higgins served as an associate attorney with a law firm in Philadelphia, PA as a member of its public sector, employment practice and liability, and commercial litigation practice groups. In this role, Higgins’ work was dedicated to the general representation of a municipality in New Jersey. He gained experience through a wide variety of legal matters, such as defending against civil rights claims, tort claims, and environmental contamination claims. He provided legal counsel to the municipality pertaining to its real estate ordinances, drafted municipal real property agreements and city council resolutions.

Higgins also successfully defended corporations against employment discrimination claims, defended corporations in commercial disputes, drafted employment agreements, and counseled corporations on Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) workplace safety regulations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A graduate of Duquesne University School of Law (Pittsburgh, PA), Higgins earned his Juris Doctor in May of 2021. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from West Virginia University in May of 2014. While a student at WVU, he was a member of the WVU Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program and simultaneously served in the West Virginia Army National Guard (2011 – 2014), which led to honors as a Distinguished Military Graduate from WVU. Upon his graduation from WVU, Higgins commissioned as an active-duty Officer in the United States Army.  Higgins’ prominent military career included positions such as Tank Platoon Leader, Operations Officer, and Infantry Company Executive Officer, a role that placed him second in command of a 135-member personnel organization.
