Teresa J. Dumire

Teresa J. Dumire joined Kay Casto & Chaney in August of 2001, and is a member in the firm's Morgantown office where her practice encompasses all areas of civil litigation with a focus on construction law. She is a member of the firm's Alternative Dispute Resolution, Insurance/Litigation, and Employment Law Practice Groups.

In 1996, Ms. Dumire received her bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Political Science from West Virginia University, graduating summa cum laude, as an Honors Graduate, and became a member of Phi Beta Kappa. In 1999, she received her J.D. degree from WVU College of Law. While in law school, Ms. Dumire was a member of the Moot Court Board from 1998 to 1999.

Ms. Dumire is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for both the Southern and Northern Districts of West Virginia, as well as the Supreme Court of Appeals for West Virginia. Prior to entering private practice, she served for two years as Law Clerk to Circuit Judges Robert B. Stone and Russell M. Clawges, Jr., of Monongalia County, West Virginia.

Ms. Dumire is a member of the American Bar Association and its Litigation and Tort and Insurance Practice Groups. She also is a member of the Defense Research Institute, Inc., the Defense Trial Counsel of WV, Inc. and, the Monongalia County Bar Association. As a member of the West Virginia State Bar, she served from 2006 to 2009 on the Board of Governors representing Monongalia and Marion Counties. She currently serves as chairwoman of West Virginia State Bar's Ad Hoc Technology Committee, the vice chairwoman of the Public Information Committee and as chairwoman of the Public Information Committee's Public Relations Subcommittee. Ms. Dumire also is a member of the Mentoring and Networking Committee and the Alternate Dispute Resolution Committee where she served for several years as the chairwoman of the Magistrate Court Mediation Program Subcommittee.

As a member of the Monongalia County Bar Association, Ms. Dumire coordinates the Law Day activities with various elementary schools throughout Monongalia County each year. She is a member of the 2010 class of Leadership WV. Additionally, she is a member of the WV Defense Trial Counsel Board of Governors.

Ms. Dumire teaches Pre-Trial Litigation at West Virginia University College of Law. She previously created and taught Expert Testimony in the Department of Forensic and Investigative Sciences.

Among her achievements, Ms. Dumire has been listed by West Virginia Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in General Litigation since 2008.
