Shannon P. Smith

Shannon P. Smith’s practice areas include Energy / Natural Resources, Real Estate Law, Commercial Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Identity Theft, and Identity Theft Protection. Ms. Smith is a member of the Energy and Mineral Law Foundation, American Bar Association, the West Virginia State Bar, the Harrison County Bar Association, and the Association for Conflict Resolution. She currently serves as the Chair of the Magistrate Court Mediation Subcommittee of the West Virginia State Bar's ADR Committee.

Ms. Smith is a graduate of the 2010 class of Leadership Monongalia. She is an adjunct lecturer of Appellate Advocacy at West Virginia University College of Law. Ms. Smith is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for both the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia, as well as the Supreme Court of Appeals for West Virginia.

In 2007, she served on the Relay for Life for Harrison County Committee for the American Cancer Society, and currently serves as a mentor for the Monongalia County Teen Court. In 2002, she received her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from West Virginia University. In 2006, she received her J.D. degree from the WVU College of Law, earning the Order of the Barristers.

While at the College of Law, Ms. Smith was runner-up in the George C. Baker Cup Competition, was a member of the National Moot Court Team, served as Associate Chief Justice of the Moot Court Board, was active in Lugar Trial Association, served as an officer of Public Interest Advocates, and founded the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society.
