Charleston, WV (May 22, 2017) – Kay Casto & Chaney PLLC is pleased to announce that Debra Scudiere, a member resident in the firm’ s Morgantown office, has been appointed by Governor Jim Justice to serve as a member of the West Virginia Industrial Council. Scudiere’s appointment was approved by the West Virginia Senate early last week.

The Industrial Council was created within the Offices of the Insurance Commissioner by Senate Bill 1004 (WV Code §23-2C-5). In consultation with the Insurance Commissioner, the Industrial Council has been charged with establishing guidelines and policies designed to ensure the effective administration of the workers’ compensation insurance market in West Virginia.

The Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate, appoints five voting members to the Industrial Council. In addition to the voting members, the Governor appoints two members of the West Virginia Senate and two members of the West Virginia House of Delegates to serve as advisory non-voting members of the Board. Scudiere will represent Westover, Monongalia County, for the term ending June 30, 2020.

At Kay Casto & Chaney PLLC, Scudiere is an experienced trial attorney whose practice deals with all areas of civil defense litigation. A large part of her practice is also devoted to alternative dispute resolution, including service to other attorneys and their clients as a mediator and an arbitrator. Scudiere’s long experience as a mediator has led to her selection to the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals.
